Local Law Enforcement
Approximately 50 vehicles have been smeared with what appears to be human blood in the Germany's city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.
Automobiles, walls and postboxes were vandalized, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they reported in a release.
Law enforcement state they were contacted late on Wednesday night, when a individual observed that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued fluid.
The liquid had been drawn in the shape of a swastika, they added.
Officers then located numerous other smeared automobiles and residential walls in the surrounding area.
These symbols are banned in Germany under laws prohibiting the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.
Law enforcement report preliminary tests suggest the liquid was most likely human blood.
"There is still no lead as to its source; investigators are presently not aware of any physical harm in association with the event," they commented.
Municipal representatives stated they were working "to unravel the mystery" and have appealed to the residents for information.
An important political figure stated the attack rendered him speechless and had to be addressed rapidly.
"This event strikes at the center of Hanau and revives the pain of the extremist attack in 2020," he wrote on online, recalling the death of nine victims by a gunman focusing on people of immigrant origin in five years prior.
